Dear Parents,

We all had such a great day at our first day of Sunday Hebrew School!
All of our returning students were excited to come back and our new students were excited to meet new friends and teachers.

All classes spent the day learning about the upcoming holiday of Yom Kippur. They learnt the different customs of what we are and are not supposed to do.

We also learnt about the holiday of Sukkot. We learnt about the Lulov and Etrog which we shake in the Sukkah. We learnt what makes a kosher Sukkah and when we have to sit in the Sukkah.
Some of the classes got to even make their own edible Sukkahs!

Cant wait to see all of our Hebrew School friends again on Sunday, October 4 at 9:30am.
Wishing you a meaningful Yom Kippur and Happy Sukkot!

Dear Parents,
We were all so excited for out first day of Hebrew School for all of our Wednesday students!
Smiles of familiar faces and excitement of the newcomers could be felt all around school today!

Every class got to know their classmates and spent the first lesson learning about the upcoming holiday of Yom Kippur.

They learnt the different costumes of what we do and what we refrain from doing on Yom Kippur. We learnt that it is a time to reflect on our year and see what we can focus on working on for the upcoming year. We learnt about forgiveness and asking for forgiveness from those we may have caused harm to- the hebrew word for this is called Teshuva.

The older class learnt about the story of Yona from Torah learning an important lesson how it is never too late to do Teshuva- repentance and asking for forgiveness. They also made yummy edible flip flops after they learnt about trying to not wear leather on Yom Kippur.

We then together as a school played a game of Jeopardy reviewing what we learnt about Yom Kippur and what we have learnt in past years about Rosh Hashona.

As a special treat at the end of the day we all enjoyed a honey cookie- wishing each other a Sweet New Year!

We had such a great day and cannot wait to see all of our friends at our next class Wednesday, September 30.
Shana Tova Umituka!
