Dear Parents,

We had a great day at Hebrew School this week!
In Morah Gnendys class they learned about a Mezuzah. They learned that we place a Mezuzah at every doorpost. Inside a mezuzah it has the prayer of Shema and because it is holy and a protection for our home, as we walk by the mezuzah we try to kiss it.

In Morah Frumies class they learned about the 6 days of creation. They learned what Hashem created in the world on each day and learned on the 7th day Hashem rested. The 7th day is Shabbat and every week on Shabbat we remember how Hashem rested and it is a day of rest for us. Next week they will continue to learn about Shabbat and the different customs. (Pics to follow next week!)

In Morah Rivkys class they learned about the next Jewish hero Yaakov. Yaakov loved to learn Torah, do Mitzvot and treated his parents with respect. Yaakov had a brother Eisev who loved to hunt animals and behaved very different from Yaakov.
We are so proud of our Aleph Champ champions Aiden, Max and Ben for moving up a level in Aleph Champ! We are so proud of you!

It was great to be back in Hebrew school after winter break!

We all had such a great time during Aleph Champ & Hebrew Language.
We learned many new words as part of our Hebrew Through Movement unit. We are very proud of the progress of our students and many are nearly ready to pass their level! Great job Sammy, Aviva and Lucas for moving up a level in Aleph Champ!

We had a great time at Youth Lounge. We first enjoyed hotdogs and fries for lunch. We then split up between sports, board games and duc taping art. Was such fun!

Morah Chana class -We  have been working towards earning  enough points for a special trip. This week they have accumulated enough points! After Tefillah and Aleph champ time, they went to the Kosher Ice cream House where they enjoyed delicious treats.

Morah Frumie's class- After taking a break to learn about the holiday of Chanukah, we went straight back to our curriculum focusing on different fundamentals in Judaism. This week we learned about the written and oral part of the Torah.

Morah Leah and Chana-  Morah Leah and Chana enjoyed a  unit on " MyPalette: The Torah Edition" A very exciting unit all about food, nutrition, and cooking. Where our students will learn about what Jewish wisdom and modern food science teach us about eating healthy food.

Sunday, December 13

We had such a fun filled day celebrating Chanukah at Hebrew School!
The classes made latkes from scratch from peeling the potatos and frying them.
We also got to make donut dough and fry and decorate them. Such fun!
We ended the day playing a Grand Chanukah Trivia game. We definitely felt Chanukah in the air!

Happy Chanukah!
In Hebrew School we had a fun filled Chanukah celebration. We rotated between the classrooms decorating doughnuts, coloring a paper dreidel that we filled with chocolate coins, we played a Chanukah matching game and ate yummy, hot latkes as we watched our very own movie we produced! Enjoy the pictures of our Chanukah fun day.

Wednesday, December 2

We had such an excited and fun filled day learning all about Chanukah!
Each class reviewed the story of Chanukah through props and hand on activities.
Chai Hebrew School is producing their very own "movie" of the Chanukah story!! Every child was VERY excited to narrate and illustrate our movie. After reviewing the Chanukah story, every child got a chapter of the story that they drew a picture of and recording a narration of their part. Stay tuned for our movie production!

We then alternated between the classes enjoying some Chanukah centers. We made drip mats for our Menorahs (that can be used to place under the Menorah, preventing the wax to ruin the table the Menorah is on). We played a fun game of dreidel and played an exciting game of Step On It with different Chanukah pictures!

Chanukah is in the air and we cannot wait for next week to celebrate Chanukah in school! We will be having a school wide Chanukah celebration!
Happy Chanukah!

Sunday, November 15

This week we were excited to get ready for the Family Havdallah Night!
Some of our classes made invitations that were sent home inviting their parents to this excited event this Saturday night. See flyer below:

We got to enjoy our monthly Youth Lounge!
We celebrated Rex's birthday this week!  While enjoying delicious cupcakes, together we discussed  what it means to celebrate a Jewish birthday. We discussed a few pointers: Giving charity, learning Torah and make good resolutions.
Rex's new resolution for this year was to fill up his whole Tzedakah box.We are so proud of him!
We then enjoyed a hot dog lunch, following fun activities! Some enjoyed playing board games, other in the activity room made shrinky dinks art and other played sports outside.
Can't wait to see you next month!
